The Carlyle CSR Fund

The Carlyle CSR Fund was established to allow us to use our skills and expertise to partner with third sector organisations on a pro-bono or subsidised basis to deliver key appointments within their leadership teams and Boards.

The Fund is also leveraged to enable us to share our knowledge and experience with a broad range of community organisations. Beyond Executive Search, we have provided pro-bono guidance as panel members and consultants to social enterprises and membership bodies through selection processes. Our Research Team has also conducted extensive mapping and remuneration benchmarking for the third sector to assist in resource-allocation decision making.

Recently, we have worked with Edinburgh Young Carers, Kohima Educational Trust, Social Enterprise Academy, Social Enterprise Scotland and The National Trust for Scotland.

The Fund also sponsors a charity partner every year, our current partner is the Edinburgh Food Project which provide eight foodbanks across Edinburgh and run projects that offer a range of support to people including: benefits and debt advice, housing and employment, mental health support, as well as a Money Advice Service.

Trees for Life

We work with Trees for Life, a conservation charity dedicated to rewilding the Scottish Highlands. With 44 tree planting sites, they have planted nearly two million trees. We plant a tree for every placement we make in our own ‘Carlyle Grove’. The continual support of Trees for Life seeks to aid the Scottish Government in their climate change commitments of planting 15,000 hectares a year by 2024/25.

Education

We fund courses and educational materials and take part in charity events within our industry to encourage learning and growth, enabling our team and peers to reach their full potential. We have successfully partnered with Scottish universities to employ and mentor Saltire students. We also provide internships for aspiring business leaders as well as utilising our knowledge and networks to match people who can help and support each other in personal and business development.

Diversity & Inclusion: Nexus

In an effort to support our Diversity and Inclusion initiative, Carlyle is a founding member of the Nexus Network – an all-female senior leader network which promotes and facilitates networking and discussion around topical issues affecting our businesses. The network encourages women in senior roles to engage with and build their professional networks. We coordinate selected events to support the initiative and encourage progressive leadership in Senior Executive and Non-Executive roles.
